Work Roles
Work Roles is the catalog of what people can actually do — not the job they hold, but the skill a task demands. “Roof controller”, “First aider”, “Sound engineer — main desk”.
The catalog is worthless on its own. It earns its keep once people are tagged with their roles and templates say which role a slot requires.
Adding a role
Link to this headingAdd work role needs a Name. Description is worth filling in when the name alone could be read more than one way — this is where you separate “Sound engineer” from “Sound engineer — main desk”. Sort order decides where the role lands in the lists.
Tiers decide who fits
Link to this headingEvery assignment carries a tier: Primary, Secondary or Tertiary. It says how firmly the person holds the role, not how often they work.
A template requires a role and a minimum tier. A person counts as fillable for the slot when their tier on that role meets or exceeds the requirement. If the slot asks for secondary, both secondary and primary fill it; tertiary does not.
Tidying the catalog
Link to this headingRoles you no longer want used are set to Inactive with Deactivate. They drop out of new assignments without disturbing the history. Activate brings them back.
