Payroll Periods

Payroll Periods are the boundary everything else answers to: what has been settled, and what can still change. This is where worked time stops being something people record and becomes something you have paid.

Each period has a Name and a date range, From and To. The dates are inclusive, and periods may not overlap each other.

While the period is open

An open period shows as Open, and its dates can be moved with Save bounds. That matters when the rollover lands on a Sunday or a holiday and the settlement has to shift.

Live preview shows where the period stands right now: approved worked time classified per person and pay code, with minutes as h:mm and occurrences as ×count. If there is nothing there yet, it is because no worked time in the period has been approved.

Locking the period

Lock period freezes the entries inside it and materialises the classification — the figures stand as they were when you locked. Afterwards, changes to dates inside the period are refused with a note that the date sits in a locked payroll period.

Reopen unlocks the period again, and asks for a Reason for reopening. That reason is not a formality — it is the record of why a closed settlement was opened again, and the only explanation anyone looking at the figures later will have.
